Last week I had an opportunity to speak with the Deputy Mayor and some of the other key players in the Washington DC market and discuss how they have been able to create such successful communities. This included discussions with a Forest City Executive, the heads of the NoMa Development, and the Capital Riverfront Business Improvement District. One thing was clear, urban parks have become the driver for urban revitalization. In fact, some cities are now putting in parks to create the “destination" before development takes place.
The question then turns to how do you fund these urban oases? There are multiple ways and competent help is needed to figure it out, or at least make sure all options have been considered.
